Mike

Athletes going on social media is both good and bad at the same time. This is one time that it is bad for the athlete. Mike Mitchell safety of the Pittsburgh Steelers whose play has not been good this season was called out by a fan. Mitchell responded to the fan by telling him to kill himself, and sent other disturbing messages to other fans. There is no reason for this type of behavior period, and Mitchell should not sent those messages at all. According to source The Steelers have asked Mitchell to stay off of social media indefinitely and he should take that advice.

Adrian

Adrian Peterson was suspended by the NFL for the rest of 2014 season and the NFL Players Association has already announced they are appealing the suspension. Peterson pleaded down to aggravated assault on his 4 year old son, and the league put him on the Commissioner exempt list until the legal matter is settled. Now that the legal matter is settled, and the NFL had no choice but to suspend him for the rest of the season. Peterson showed no remorse for his actions, and deserved being gone for the rest of season. What will happen to Peterson, and i would not be surprised if the Minnesota vikings would let him go after the season.

LeGone

LeGarrette Blount was just released by the Steelers, and it wasn’t because of him walking out on the team near the end of their 27 to 24 win over the Tennessee Titans last night. It was reported that the team didn’t like his attitude, dragging down Le’veon Bell, and was unhappy about his carries. Blount didn’t have the most of sterling reputation when he was signed by the Steelers in the off season. He was suspensed during his senior season at Oregon for throwing a punch at Boise State player. He played for 4 NFL teams in five seasons, and he has a lot of talent to run the ball and return kickoffs. However, his drug charges stemming from an incident at Mcknight Road with Bell could scare teams off of signing him. This was the right move for the Steelers to get rid of a problem and might become a distraction.

Week 11 Vs Titans

Ben Roethlisberger struggled this evening throwing for 207 yards and a 12 yard touchdown pass to Antonio Brown. However, he was sacked 5 times and threw an interception that set up a Zach Mettenberger 80 yard touchdown pass to Nate Washington to give the Titans a 17 to 13 lead at halftime. Then in the second half, Le’veon Bell ran the ball very well rushing for 204 yards and a touchdown. The defense didn’t had a sack but put the pressure on Mettenberger, and shut down the Titans running game. The problems were penalties that took away a couple good kickoff returns, giving up two touchdowns passes from Mettenberger, and the offensive line not protecting Roethlisberger. These problems could be fixed during the bye week, and 5 defensive players could be back from injuries. The Steelers won 27-24 to go to 7-4 going into the bye week and they will take on the New Orleans Saints at Heinz Field on November 30th with kickoff at 1:00 P.M. However, there is a story that LeGarrette Blount led the field before the end of the game, and was mad that he had no carries. According to Ed Bouchette, the rest of the team wanted him released because of his poor attitude, and might be dragging Bell down. Blount could be released and will have to deal with drug charges with Bell from the pre season before a game vs the Philadelphia Eagles.

Week 10 vs NY Jets

The Steelers had 4 turnovers today and no running game it spelled out a 20-13 loss to the New York Jets. Ben Roethlisberger threw for 343 yards and a 80 touchdown pass to Martavis Bryant. Bryant also fumbled when the Steelers were driving in the 2nd quarter. However, he threw two interceptions, and was sacked twice. Antonio Brown fumbled twice and the first one set a Jets touchdown. Shawn Suisham made a career best 53 yard field goal. but missed a makeable 23 yard one. The defense has 4 sacks, but didn’t cause any turnovers that would have change the game around. This game hurts because the Steelers would have been tied with the Cleveland Browns for first place in the AFC North. Now the Steelers have to get ready for Tennessee Titans next Monday night at LP Field with the kickoff at 8:30 P.M.

Hard Times

Sunday night was fun times for the Pittsburgh Steelers, but in contrast it is hard times for the California University of Pa football team. Last Saturday’s game against Gannon was cancelled and later forfeited due to an off the field situation. Six football players were arrested for beating and stomping on Lewis Campbell. As they let the scene they chanted football strong. It all started with an argument between one of the players and Campbell’s girlfriend at a Spuds a restaurant on Wood Street. The owner of Spuds had started closing the restaurant at 1:00 A.M.for safety reasons. Campbell is in the intensive care unit at Allegheny General Hospital suffering from a serious brain injury. Full disclosure, i am a proud graduate of California University of PA, but disgusted by these young men actions. The university the players suspended from the team and school effective immediately, and in the past they have been some troubles with student-athletes. In fact, WPXI reporter Cara Sapida investigated and learned that 27 CAL U football players had run ins with the law. This incident could cost Cal U a chance to make the DII playoffs, but the immediate question why would these five players ruin their futures to do something bad to someone. As for the team they will play against Mercyhurst this coming Saturday, and as for the rest of the season that is to be determined.
