New England quarterback Tom Brady made his first public appearance since the Wells Report was released and it said that Brady knew about the Patriots deflating footballs during the AFC Championship game vs the Indianapolis Colts. The report mentioned Patriots locker room attendant Jim McNally and equipment assistant John Jastermski deflated the game balls to give them a competitive advantage, but after the game they denied in involvement in the matter. Brady didn’t answer any questions at an event at Salem State University and to me it speaks volumes. It means he is talking to lawyers and mentioned that he will talk about this at a late date. He has a sympathetic audience, and Jim Gray who was the host for the event asked questions, but Brady didn’t answer it. The NFL has not announced its punishment for the Patriots or Brady. Here is my punishment for Brady and the Patriots if I was NFL Commissioner.
1. Tom Brady gets suspended for 8 games for misleading the league’s investigation into the matter.
2. The Patriots gets fined $500,000 for not cooperating with the league and docked 1st and 2nd draft pick for 2016 and 2017.
3. Head Coach Bill Belichick who was exonerated by the report should be fined $250,000 for not reporting this to the league.
No matter what happens this will taint the Patriots achievements of winning four Super Bowls.
