When Jung Ho Kang of the Pittsburgh Pirates was taken out by a hard slide by the Chicago Cubs Chris Coghlan their fans were screaming foul. Last night the New York Mets and their fans were saying the same thing. Los Angeles Dodgers second baseman, Chase Utley took out Ruben Tejada in the seventh inning, and Tejada suffered a broken leg. Tonight, Major League Baseball announced that Utley is suspended for game 3 and 4 of the National League Divisional Series. Utley can appeal this suspension. After seeing this play it went above and beyond what a slide into second base should be. With the series tied at one the Mets can’t afford for retaliation at Utley because of suspensions, plus the chance of winning the series. The Mets should think about winning the series and that is how you hurt the Dodgers the most.
