Jeff Zatkoff was the surprised starter in goal as the Penguins took on the NY Rangers in game one of the Stanley Cup Eastern Quarterfinals. The game was scoreless until late in the first period when Patric Horniqvist scored a rebound. It was after Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist accidentally took a stick in the ice from teammate Marc Staal. Lundqvist never returned and was replaced Anti Raantta. The score was still 1-0 late in the second period when Sidney Crosby scored on a breakaway to give the Pens a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd period. Early in the third, Derick Brassard scored a on two man advantage to cut the lead to 2-1. On the same two man advantage, Tom Kuhnhackel scored a short handed goal to give the Pens a 3-1 lead. Then on Penguins power play Horniqvist scored to give them a 4-1 lead, and then Brassard scored to cut the Penguins lead 4-2. Horniqvist scored an empty net goal to give the Penguins a 5-2 win and a 1-0 series lead. Jeff Zatkoff had an outstanding game in goal. Penguins have to keep it going game two against the Rangers at the Consol Energy Center with the face off at 3:00 P.M.
