Stanley Cup Playoffs 2017 Game 3 Vs Columbus Blue Jackets

The Columbus Blue Jackets had to get off to a great start in game 3 and they did. Cam Atkinson scored 11 seconds into the game.   However, over 3 minutes later Jake Guentzel tied the game at 1.  Atkinson gave the Blue Jackets the lead with his second goal off a  Sidney Crosby’s turnover.   Over a minute later on a power play, Zach Werenski increased the Blue Jackets lead to 3-1 after the first period.      Bryan Rust cut the deficit to 3-2 early in the second period.    Evgeni Malkin scored a goal, and during the play, Werenski took a puck to the face but the game was tied at 3 going into the third period.  Brandon Dubinsky took a penalty for cross-checking and Guentzel scored on the power play to give the Penguins a 4-3 lead.    Dubinsky scored to tie the game at 4 going into the overtime period.

Marc-Andre Fleury overcame a shaky start to make some great saves including the one of his head in the overtime period.   That save would set up Guentzel taking a pass from Crosby to score the winning goal at 13:10 of the overtime period.  Guentzel became the first Penguins rookie to get a hat trick.    The Pittsburgh Penguins won  5-4 in overtime and have a commanding 3 games to none series lead.   They can close it Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena with faceoff at 7:30 P.M.
