2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs Game 3 Vs Washington Capitals

Game three’s tone was changed with Sidney Crosby getting cross-checked in the head by Matt Niskanen.  Niskanen was giving a 5-minute major penalty and a game misconduct.  The Capitals had a 1-0 lead after two periods in a goaltending battle between Braden Holtby and Marc-Andre Fleury. The only goal of the game was on a 5-3 power play by Nicklas Backstrom.   The Capitals were able to increase the lead to 2-0 on an Evgeny Kuznetsov goal.   Then in the last two minutes, the Penguins proved why they are the Stanley Cup Champions.    Evgeni Malkin scored to cut the deficit to 2-1 and then with the goalie pulled Justin Schultz tied the game at 2.   The game went to overtime and after  Trevor Daley was called for holding.   Kevin Shattenkirk scored to give the Capitals a 3-2 win in overtime and now trail in the series 2 games to 1.   The big question going into game 4 is the health of Crosby and Connor Sheary who was also injured during the game.  Game 4  is Wednesday night at the PPG Paints Arena with faceoff at 7:30 P.M.
